As a lover of the aesthetics, the Indian wedding scenes in movies always amaze and fascinate me. To me, it’s a work of art with all the intimate intricacies.

Indian weddings seem so colorful, festive, elaborate and filled with ritual and celebration. The tents (shamiana) with drapes & coverings in all vibrant colors really create the mood. Colors like bright pink, turquoise, orange, red, plum, mustard and gold are altogether beautiful and enriching. The details of the hanging tea lights, the flowers (Marigold), the wedding cake inspired by henna designs or indian embroidery, wooden elephant centerpieces, the lanterns, the jewelry, ..….are astounding and add so much life to the ceremony. The dancing and applying henna art on the hands are my favorite parts ;). The beautiful silk saris, the kurtas, sherwanis…..are most exquisite!

I’ve never been to an actual Indian wedding but I would love to attend one. Movies such as the Accidental Husband, Bride & Prejudice, Rachel Getting Married, Monsoon Wedding, Jodhaa Akbar… all featuring beautiful Indian wedding scenes will have to serve as my inspiration for now… ;)
